Just to give you a bit more complete answer - I think we need cyber law for the following key reasons;

• Internet has Intangibles
• Easy intrusive jurisdictional boundaries
• Massive data exchange traffic volumes
• Social Networks allows collective sharing of information
• Internet offers space for anonymity
• Internet allows efficiency in services and product delivery creating economic transaction highway
• Copyright Infringement is easy for content reproduction
• Possibility for piracy of software, movies, pictures etc.
• Theft of corporate information such as books, papers, CD-ROMs, floppy disks
• Taxation Issues

Just to add to this - cyberspace has complete disrespect for jurisdiction boundaries.

I think one main reason is that cyberspace is an intangible dimension that is impossible to govern and regulate using conventional law.

Why do we need a law specifically for internet? Can't we apply conventional law to cyberspace?
