Apple is used to being dominant in most of its markets: from phones and tablets to smartwatches. Roku, Google, and Amazon devices have mostly ruled the streaming device space, however, though Apple TV is picking up steam.
Apple TV got some big updates in 2015, with a remote that adds voice control from Siri, a touchpad, and an accelerometer and gyroscope for gameplay. Be careful with that glass remote, though; customer complaints of shattered remotes have led to a secondary market of cases.
Apps are really where it's at, though. The App Store is now on Apple TV via tvOS. You can of course, find streaming services like Netflix and Hulu; networks including CBS, Fox, HBO, NBC, and PBS; and original programming like the M2M fashion channel.
Apple TV will set you back $149 (32GB) or $199 (64GB). Check out the slideshow for a few ways to make the best use of it.
